Score and Parts
The arranger first encountered Bach's Trio Sonata No. 4 in E minor in the third season of the Swiss crime series “Wilder”. Whenever the traumatized angel of death carried out his campaign of revenge against those responsible for the death of his wife and daughter, this music began - indicating that there could be a realm of reconciliation and peace beyond the bloody, poisoned gravity of the earth.
In the musicological literature, this trio sonata has been described as “a small miracle”, as “timeless circling”, as a “lavish trance state”. Friedrich Kullmann's interpretation is based on that of the Icelandic pianist Vikingur Ólafsson: straightforward and dynamic.
