Score and Parts
HAYDN was next to Mozart one of the workaholics of the classical era. Some things sound rather banal to today's ears (the admirers of Haydn may forgive me for that), but many things are simply great and play with the same element as Mozart's work: It sounds simple, but is just the opposite. Here you can immediately guess which way the music could go and when something else happens, the amazement is great and the joy of it as well. Transparent sounds, interesting chord movements, all clichés vividly to hear and sensual-attractive melodies, where the classic friend's heart might rise: These duets, originally written for flute, sound great on the saxophone.
