Score and Parts

The composer Jean-Joseph Mouret, born in Avignon in 1682, is not one of them the most famous composer in his field, but he was not only a good singer, but soon drew attention to himself with opera works. But like the works of numerous colleagues - J.B. Lully is a prominent example - so Mouret's music too rarely finds its way through the French Border into the concert halls of neighboring countries.

But one melody ensured that the composer will not be forgotten: this rondeau from his first Suite de Symphonies, which is used as the background melody for the Public Broadcasting Service program in the USA. The arrangement for saxophone ensemble is based on the original text and dispenses with it mostly on articulation or dynamic indications, which were not only unusual at the time were, but in this case are also unnecessary.
