When JOE DEGADO entered a salsa band in 1997, they were out of the band a few Germans who all spoke German and English, but not Spanish, especially Latin Americans in the band, some of them English and Spanish, others only German and Spanish languages. So there was no language that everyone understood at the same time. After some time, the German musicians gradually increased and were replaced by Latin Americans, Degado remained as the only one left. The rest of the band then chatted cheerful in Spanish and he did not understand a word. A situation that he took into account in two ways: First he wrote Perdon, second he learned
Spanish.

The tune is dedicated to Degado Michael Brecker, not only because he was in Frankfurt during a solo concert in 2002 and told a nice story about a trip to Mexico, but also because the piece is difficult and complex enough to honor one of the - if not the - best musicians of all time. The first voice can also be taken from a soprano and the baritone voice from a tenor saxophone. In the latter case, octaves must be made in some places. In all voices there are notated solos. These solos are to be understood as options or suggestions, so they can also be replaced by their own improvisation.
