Score and parts
This piece is not about the original but about a well-known piece by Frédéric Chopin, one of the most important composers of the Romantic period, as a 'Jazz Ballade'. Chopins music is not often used as a stimulant for jazz musicians, although it is actually excellently suited to it. Chopin is one of the great melodic inventors of music history and his harmony is very close to jazz, especially the classical one. The arrangement of this nocturne comes from the repertoire of the group 'Swing Chopin' - the CD of the same name was published by 'Jardis'.
The 'Nocturne' is in G minor and is slow, so there should be little technical difficulties. However, the lower parts do not always follow the melody and each player has his solo part (the tenorist may even improvise for eight bars if he wants) so all musicians should be able to play fairly independently.
