The solo piece for alto saxophone was written in the first version in 2008 as commissioned composition by GERALD PREINFALKS Professor of Classical Saxophone at the Vienna Music University, now MDW. The piece should contain the current playing techniques of new music as well as rhythm and be enriched with improvisation. With these specifications, Preinfalk has written a composition, that combines all of these ideas in the most organic possible connections – a fascinating conglomeration of melodic overtone playing with a lot of groove!
The composer chose the name after a visit to the theater in Vienna's Josefstadt, where a befriended actress played her first major role: The Lola in "Der blaue Engel", a theatrical version of the famous movie classic. The well-known refrain of the song "Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß auf Liebe eingestellt", originally performed by Marlene Dietrich, gave the idea for the first bars of the also "first" solo piece by Gerald Preinfalk.
