The piece “Akolo” was written in 2023 and was premiered at the Carinthian Summer by the Spectrum Saxophone Quartet, to whom it is also dedicated. The title is short for the Greek word “akolouthia” (succession) and refers to the strict canon composition technique on which this work is based. It is a piece that features many interwoven soundscapes and leads into a very calm middle section before finally spinning off into a fiery inferno and a grand tutti at the end.
